Fellow Applicant

Last year we implemented an unofficial rule that posts must be tagged with either "UPDATE", "QUERY", or "COMMENT". That way every post would be both easy to spot and past posts would be easily searchable in the browser using CTRL/CMD + F. For example:

QUERY: Any news on Acme Looniversity (Dynamite Studies)?

UPDATE: PFO from UC Sunnydale (Vampire Epistemology).

COMMENT: Please don't forget to tag your posts!

I thought this worked well for the most part and hope we can continue! A few reminders about this practice:

- As in the examples above, please use ALL CAPS and a colon for the tag so that it's easy to spot and differentiate from the content of the post. Don't change anything in the tag that would make it harder to CTRL + F search the thread. E.g., don't write "QUERIES" rather than "QUERY" even if you are asking about more than one job.
- Please be sure to list the AOS in parentheses when requesting an update.
- For new members, please be sure to look at previous posts in the thread before asking what a "PFO" means or whether a particular school has sent out interview requests. (PFO is short for 'please eff off' — it means a rejection email was received.)
- As always, move discussion to the discussion thread, just like we should do with any follow-up comments to this post!

QUERY A follow up technically from the last reporting thread... But did anyone hear back re: the Lethbridge TT in Ethics job after zoom interviews? Did they move to fly-outs?

Ghosted

COMMENT

@leaf: I've been ghosted as well so far, though I can't confirm that they've moved to fly-outs. I just assumed I was out of the running at this point.

UPDATE: Interview request for Teaching Professor position in UNC's Department of Public Policy

https://philjobs.org/job/show/27142

Luke Hunt

UPDATE: The University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) will be conducting a search this fall. The position should be advertised soon but here is a overview: tenure-track at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall 2025. AOS or AOC in the Philosophy of Law broadly construed. Ph.D. in philosophy should be completed by August 15, 2024. A J.D. from a respected Law School and experience in the legal professions are strongly preferred. The philosopher hired will be expected to teach undergraduate classes, and support the development of, and teach in, a new Master’s program in Law, Ethics and Society.

NYUAD Academic Recruitment

NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for an open-rank, two-year visiting faculty appointment in the NYUAD Philosophy program starting Academic Year 2025-2026. Applicants should have a demonstrated capacity to teach courses in non-Western or other traditionally underrepresented areas of philosophy.
