(Updated 10/3/201)
As I noted in opening this season's job-market discussion thread, I had planned to wait until October 1st to open this year's job-market reporting thread. However, given that I have already received some requests to open up the reporting thread, I hereby open this thread for job-market reporting.
The current thread (below) is only for reporting news on the market (i.e. reporting interviews, flyouts, offers, hires, and so on), so please, report away! If you would like to discuss the job-market, please comment on the other thread. Permalinks to both job threads will remain on the right side-bar of the blog through the end of the job season. Because of Typepad's functionality limitations (which only permits 100 comments before starting a new comment page), readers may elect to bookmark each new page of comments as each new page emerges. I recognize that it can be frustrating to scroll through page after page to get to new comments, and I think this is probably the best solution given Typepad's functionality limitations.
Finally, although it should go without saying, commenters are asked to please remember the Cocoon's supportive mission while reporting. Thanks, and best of luck to all on the market!
Update: please do feel free to report on jobs in other departments that philosophers can be expected to apply to (political theory jobs in political science departments, AI-ethics jobs in interdisciplinary departments, etc.). Just make sure you specify the institution and department so that other readers and commentators don't confuse them with jobs in philosophy departments.
No, nothing from : Worcester State, Brandeis, or Utah State. But if Harvard (also an October 15) is only scheduling interviews today, then I will refrain from concluding that it's "probably not a good thing."

Anon and wait what: My understanding, from talking to faculty and grad students at Princeton, is that they simply read apps and make offers without first round interviews or flyouts. I take it this is based on social psychology and business research that suggests interviews are noisy, biased, and unhelpful. Seems like a great idea to me, to be honest.

PFO and Anon: thank you! Lol

Can confirm Utah State is still reviewing apps.

Has anyone received PFO from Seattle's philosophy of science job?
Posted by: rolling | 11/30/2021 at 12:45 PM
Did anyone who applied for the UCLA clinical ethics fellowship due yesterday get an email about doing an incredibly tedious and long personality assessment? The email says "Please note that we are unable to consider your application until you complete the online assessment." and I'm wondering how seriously to take that.
Posted by: clinical | 11/30/2021 at 05:14 PM
Thanks, @Carleton #2 and good luck!
Posted by: anon | 11/30/2021 at 06:43 PM
@clinical yes, I also received that email-- I was incredibly annoyed! I was worried my application wouldn't actually go through so I ended up doing it, but that might have been too paranoid of me. I was already on the fence about applying to this position in the first place and wouldn't have even bothered if I'd known I'd have to fill out a 100-question HR survey in order for it to count. Search committees, please stop wasting vulnerable job market applicants' time!

Rice is scheduling first-round interviews.
Posted by: H-town | 12/01/2021 at 11:05 AM
@rolling I applied to both of the Seattle U jobs (science and phil mind/psychology) and was not contacted for an interview for either position when others were on here but have not received any PFOs either. Tbh I'm assuming this indicates a PFO on both fronts, but I could be wrong!
Posted by: Oh well | 12/01/2021 at 04:35 PM
@Oh well, thank you for your response! I'll just forget about that job!

Has anyone heard anything from NYU (either TT or Bersoff)? Or have a sense of when they usually schedule interviews for the Bersoff?
Posted by: ball of stress | 12/01/2021 at 05:23 PM
@ball of stress: there aren't any interviews for the Bersoff. They are usually decided mid-December. At least judging from last year's thread, everyone finds out around the same time (PFO, got it, or alternate). Hope that helps!
I am completely speculating here, but I think that might suggest that we won't hear anything about TT until around then either (but I guess it depends on if they do interviews for that or go straight to fly outs). Last year, a bunch of places went straight to fly outs, and it sounds like that might be the norm for some fancy schools anyway.

Hey y'all, could we maybe save this thread for updates and use the discussion thread for other stuff? Having discussions on here makes the thread longer than it needs to be and that makes it harder to find out news.
Posted by: postduck | 12/01/2021 at 07:08 PM
@new york, new york: thanks so much, that's super helpful!

Has anyone heard from Pittsburgh, Loyola Chicago, Boston U, Concordia, or Xavier?
Posted by: round3 | 12/03/2021 at 01:47 PM
Loyola University - Chicago (TT, moral theory) is scheduling interviews.
Posted by: Post Malone | 12/03/2021 at 03:10 PM
Can someone share what the PFO text from UW Madison for the data ethics position said? I applied and have not heard from them yet.
Posted by: UW-hopeful | 12/03/2021 at 05:11 PM
@round3: I have heard from none of them, but Loyola Chicago's deadline was Nov 30, so I wouldn't expect to hear from them anytime soon. I would think Xavier and BU might send out invites in the next couple of weeks, as it has been almost a month since their deadlines passed, but that is just a hunch.

Loyola University - Chicago (TT, ethical theory) has scheduled Zoom interviews.
Posted by: J. Belfort | 12/03/2021 at 05:30 PM
I didn't get a PFO from Wisconsin (metaphysics) today, but I went and checked my application status on their portal, and it was "not selected." I'm pretty sure this is the equivalent of a PFO (not sure why I didn't get an email in that case, but...?). So if you are curious about your app status, it might be helpful to check their site.
Posted by: Wasn't Expecting This One | 12/03/2021 at 07:37 PM
@J. Belfort: wait, seriously? That fast?? If true, man, I'm really hurting this year. I thought I had a Chace at an interview for that one...
Posted by: postdoc less hopeful | 12/03/2021 at 07:46 PM
Since he is posting under the name of a notorious fraud, and the job deadline was two days ago, I am guessing that "J. Belfort" is a troll... Har har.

You should assume the worst because it’s Princeton, brandeis, and nyu, not because of mid-October deadlines. You’ve really really got to understand this about the market: you wil only very very rarely hear anything from the places you apply and, even then the correlation between when you apply and when you hear is very very tenuous.
