Filippo Contesi

The "Loss of writing freedom" section is very illuminating. Philosophy didn't use to be like this, with publications such as /Cogito/ producing top-level articles but written in more refreshing ways than standard journal articles. Moving to an arXiv-type system in philosophy, as Marcus has pioneeringly been saying for years, may well improve the situation, by diminishing the distance between scholarly journal and professional blogs. This would be a case of moving towards the future to restore some good features of the past

Mike
