I'd like to thank Carlo Ierna for his time as a Featured Early-Career Author. It was a real pleasure to learn more about his work, and about Brentano. Alas, it is now time to welcome our newest featured author: Luis ("Louie") Favela!
Louie received his PhD from the University of Cincinnati in 2015, and is now Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Cognitive Sciences at the Univerity of Central Florida. His dissertation was entitled, Understanding Cognition Via Complexity Science, and his areas of specialization are Philosophy of Cognitive Science, Philosophy of Mind, and Philosophy of Science. He has published a number of articles including:
Favela, L. H. & Chemero, A. (in press). The animal-environment system. Foundations of Embodied Cognition.
Favela, L. H. (2014). Radical embodied cognitive neuroscience: Addressing “grand challenges” of the mind sciences. Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.
Favela, L. H. & Chemero, A. (2014). The value of affordances. Religion, Brain, & Behavior.
Van Rooij, M. M. J. W., Favela, L. H., Malone, M. L., & Richardson, M. J. (2013). Modeling the dynamics of risky choice. Ecological Psychology.
Please join me in welcoming Louie!
Finally, I'd like to once again encourage readers who might be interested in serving as a Featured Early-Career Author to volunteer by emailing me at [email protected]. Alternatively, if you think you might know someone else who might be interested, let them know! I don't presently have anyone scheduled immediately after Louie, and it would be great to keep the series rolling. All you have to be is an early-career (i.e. untenured) philosopher willing to share your work!
Way to go, Louie :)
