So I've approached a couple of trusted people to read a draft of the introduction and first four chapters of the book I've been working on, and was thinking I could probably use a few more readers (just so that I can get several different people's thoughts on the project's promise or lack thereof). So, then, I figured I'd ask you all: is anyone interested in giving it a quick read and providing their overall impressions?
I'm not looking for anything like detailed feedback -- moreso something along the lines of: "Yes, I think this is a good-looking project" or "No, I don't think so." I should give fair warning that things are still quite rough at this point. I feel pretty good about the introduction and 3 out of the four chapters (at least in terms of being "good drafts"), but I'm not sure at all about one of them, one in which I'm trying to do something very new for me, but which I hope, with significant revisions, will turn out to be pretty cool and unusually personal for a piece of philosophy (though of course I could be wrong!).
I'd be particularly interested in volunteers who know a lot about Kantian ethics, as the book is firmly in that vein (but attempting something that I think is quite new in the area -- though again I could be wrong). Anyway, if anyone is willing to take a quick look, please either comment below or email me at marvan@ut.edu. I think I want to keep the number of people reading it to a fairly small number (roughly, no more than I can count on one hand), so please, if you do volunteer and I choose couple of other people, don't take any offense. Perhaps I'll take you up on the offer a little bit later (if/when I learn that the project isn't a total embarassment from the first few people who read it!). :)
