I came across the following two papers the other day through this post over at the Brains blog:
- "The Cartesian Argument Against Physicalism" by Philip Goff
- "Non-Reductive Physicalism and the Mind-Body Problem" by Susan Schneider (forthcoming in Nous)
I'd like to encourage everyone to check them out: (1) Goff essentially argues in his paper that Descartes' arguments for dualism -- which we typically use as target-practice in introductory classes -- actually give us resources for a sound argument against physicalism; and (2) Schneider argues that non-reductive physicalism (a dominant position these days) is incoherent and collapses into substance dualism. Anyway, just thought I'd give their papers a shout-out!
